Wandjina is a musical group formed in In Ghent, Belgium. 5 like-minded personality’s bringing one coherent sea of music which is inspired by life-experiences.
Searching for a balance between open compositions, fixed musical ideas and completely improvised moments, they result in a mysterious sounding atmosphere trying to bring the listener in a wandering place and light-up their imagination.
Their music is often described as “some kind of film music”, but still very autonomous. Influenced by different types of music and other non-musical elements, wandjina has an eclectic sound, which makes it somehow a typical Belgian band.
However, freedom of playing and moving around the music is such an important thing to us, that the music can easily be categorized as ‘Jazz’ (for what it’s worth).
